Spread the Word, not the Ashes!

Our popular parks and gardens are places where people like to remember loved ones, but did you know that human ashes are harmful to plants?

Scattering ashes in the park may be a comfort for some, but they are highly alkaline and have a very high salt content which scorches plants so they are unable to take in water and nutrients. It can also be upsetting for volunteers working in the Park and Gardens to come across ashes. Please help us by informing others about the potential damage and distress caused.
