The Alpine Tea room was originally opened 40 years ago this month by the grandmother of one of the current owners. Passed to her daughter, then grandson, and now grandaughter, the cafe has gone from strength to strength. It moved from a small room inside the Croft, serving just tea and cakes, to the upper terrace during Covid lockdown. Visitors can now enjoy a range of savoury and sweet treats, all made on site. Kylie Martin, joint owner of the cafe, organised a birthday celebration for family, friends and gardening volunteers on a beautifully hot evening in July. Delicious canapes, mini cornet icecreams, birthday cake and Pimms were served. Bunting made by the Friends’ Volunteers decorated the upper terrace. Thank you, Kylie and staff of the Alpine Cafe. Delicious food and a lovely event.
