Flood Reparations

We are grateful for the Environment Agency, Volunteers and Manchester City Council working together to begin clearing the park of mud and removing tree trunks which had been lifted, floated and deposited by the flood waters across paths, especially in Stenner Woods. Thanks go to a Council Officer for a very rapid repair of the boardwalk.

The embankment which was breached has had temporary repairs with many tonnes of stone, stored at Withington Golf Course, dropped into place by helicopters over a period of 2 weeks. Both the EA and MCC will be looking to agree more permanent solutions, especially if use of the flood basin is going to become more frequent.

Not all paths along the river are yet open to walkers or cyclists.
